YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN FORGOTTEN AND YOU ARE STILL MISSED VERY MUCHFrom his would-be sister in law,Nancy A Zamora 01 Jul 2007 My name is Nancy (Sutton) Zamora. Gene was a very big part of our lives before he left for Vietnam and he remains a very big part of my memory. He was engaged to my sister Toni Sutherland and I was only 12 when he died. The pain dulls but never goes away and I think of him daily. His picture sits on my desk always. I would love to hear from anyone who knew him. I had talked to a few people but we have lost touch over the years and I just want you all to know I am still here and would love to talk to you and anybody else who may have known him. God Bless any soldier who ever fought for or died for my freedom, you are always in my thought and prayers. Thank you all.

Gene, I will never forget you. You, Paul, and me were Air Cav's 3 musketeers. I am still struggling with the guilt of not keeping my word and not taking your position as crew chief on that fateful flight. I knew you were wanting to avoid it when I promised you I would take the flight. I can still see you leaving the tent very early in the morning shaking me and telling me to go. I don't know why I did not go but ever since I wish I would have. I didn't know what happened to you or see you arriving at base camp since right after you left they scrambled our gunships out. I remember coming back and guys were telling me about you. I rushed up to the aid station to say I'm sorry but when I got in there Paul already said I was too late. You will always be in my thoughts no matter what the VA gives me or tells me all these years. I have asked the Lord to forgive me and when it's my time to leave here that's when I'll tell you "I'M SORRY". Paul "Mr B" Clancy still is in contact and your name is brought up sometimes without any one speaking it. You were a true and trusted friend. I wish I could say the same for me. ALLONS till we meet again in Our Father's House with all the other brave souls from all the wasteful wars since time began.
